This week has been a crazy one. Who am I kidding the entire fall has been non stop. I love it, of course, but there really is only so much that coffee can do and the circles are darkening under my eyes and my hair is getting frizzier by the day 😉 All for a good cause. I love my family and support them in all that they endeavour and that is returned right back to me. After working every weekend this fall – this one is booked off …. (unless you want a session on Friday 🙂 This weekend is halloween parties, swim meets (go Erin go! Swim like a bear is chasing you!!), gymnastithon, pumpkin carving, Dave is an Orangeville Otter volunteer and on Fall Chores duty and I am master coordinator to make sure a child does not get left somewhere they shouldn’t be. It is going to be a busy one but I will find the time to get my own girls fall photo ….. if I have to tie them down somewhere to do it!!
Added onto the pile this week was my mom’s cataract surgery yesterday. It was her second eye so it is almost routine but does involve me leaving the house before everyone else awakens to get her to the hospital on time. Normally planned well in advance this time it caused some turmoil. Dave was called to Detroit for a last minute meeting which meant I was left with 2 kids, and a puppy to manage as well as my mom.
I choose the simplest option – I let the kids stay home from school. I made up lists of Caitlyn’s homework, Erin’s homework, Puppy chores, Breakfast options, Lunch options, no tv, no computer games, etc. I made it the least enjoyable I could possibly make it but headed out into the darkness yesterday morning knowing that they would be ok.
I arrived home in the afternoon to two happy kids with all of their homework completed, a joyful puppy – walked, fed and played with, a tidy house, and two very refreshed girls. Of course the stories they told their teachers were that they needed to look after the dog because mom and dad were too busy so you can imagine I am now firmly entrenched in the crazy mom category at school but I feel good about it.
Now on to tackle Thursday!! 🙂
