It is Family Photo Season and as I face a session filled Thanksgiving Weekend I found strange thoughts trickling through my head this afternoon. Family Photos are taken for many reasons but the #1 is to celebrate the family unit.
I wanted to give you a thought and a pledge I suppose from me.
I want you, my gorgeous clients, to enjoy these sessions. I will do my best to capture the love, laughter and joy. Remember that love, laughter and joy exists even if you are not wearing matching outfits, if the kids have gotten dirty, if your hair is frizzy or even if you didn’t manage to get in a shower because you were too busy making sure the kids “looked perfect”.
So especially you moms (because we all know the dads were bribed with a Tim Horton’s trip after the session;)
RELAX.
The bottom line is that when your children look at you they see your love not your hair or the extra 10 lbs you are worried about. And when they look at these photos 30 years from now they will see the love and THAT is what these photos are about.
I challenge you – even if you are not getting professional photographs this fall to get out there set the timer on your cameras and take your own family portrait. You can do it and the kids will cherish the results 🙂
So done with my thought and on to my pledge.
I pledge to accept my crazy frizzy hair and all my other aged 40+ issues and give my girls a photo that they will look at 30 years from now that will trigger a scent, a memory, the familiar feeling of my hugs and all of the things that will remind them of our fabulous little foursome 🙂
