It would be an understatement to say that this winter has been cold, but I try and limit my grumbling to set an example for my daughters. There is nothing worse then two stir crazy kids running round and around and around but are unwilling to go outside because it is "too cold". Of course, I tend to agree with them when the mercury dips below -15 degrees. We ski, skate, toboggan and do all we can to pass the winter.
It was a chilly night last week when I decided to venture out with the Orangeville Camera Club for their "Lights on Broadway" Photowalk. (Check out the club's website at Orangeville Camera Club ) In fact it was the same day as my afternoon spent in the ditch. It has taken me a week to thaw out! The temperature was SIGNIFICANTLY colder then -15 degrees and myself and a group of diehard photo enthusiasts were bundled up – ready to face the elements….or so we thought.
I lasted about 2 hours and by then I was so numb I could barely carry my camera gear, let alone press the buttons to take a picture. However, I had fun and practised some photo techniques that I really do not use for portraits. It is always fun to try new things and play around, this is what I repeated to myself as I shivered snuggling in a blanket when I returned home and expressed to my daughter's through chattering teeth. The things I do to get my kids to play outside!
