This past Saturday I had the wonderful experience of photographing an old (not age old – but old from a very long time ago 😉 friend and her amazing family. Shona and I went to highschool together and found each other again on …… Facebook. What a great thing Facebook is! I have gotten back in touch with so many great old friends all because of Facebook. All those people I swore I would never lose track of but did anyways, those are the people that I am grateful to have found again. And I do promise that I will follow up on all of those coffee/wine invitations. It will just have to be in January when things slow down a bit. It definitely is a gift to have my best friends from public school, high school and university come back into my life again.
Now on to Shona and her delightful family. After getting over my initial disappointment that Jersey (a beautiful chocolate lab) didn't come we settled into photos on a sunny crisp December morning. The kids did great – it was chilly and we had to act quickly but I think there are going to be some tough decisions to be made. After taking advantage of the opportunity to get one more outdoor shoot in, we came inside and did some photos by the tree. That was when my children decided to make an entrance with Dave and the shoot went an entirely new direction. Kids paired off and played with kids, husbands paired off and went into deep discussions about whatever it is that husbands talk about and Shona and I could see that there was a real opportunity here.
My kids are already talking about the next time that they come over and I am frantically going over the schedule to try and find a day for a playdate or two for both the kids and the adults.
It was wonderful seeing you again Shona and meeting your family. Hope you like the photos – I'll be finished proofing in a couple of days.
Merry Christmas!
Look at this Heartbreaker!
Deep in thought – what an amazing 3 year old. Believe it or not I miss that age.
Look at the gleam in his eye – what could he be up to and do I really want to know?
