Photography Tips and Skills
Introductory – Basics of Photography Series Intention 🙂
Often when I am at events or out on my own I see people struggling with their cameras. I always am willing to help out and make little suggestions if asked.  My passion for photography is fueled when I find people who are just as excited! My photographic style leans towards a journalistic/story telling approach. I love looking back at the pictures that i have taken that make me laugh. The moments in our household where I was able to quickly grab a camera. Now I am able to look back at those moments and cherish them.
Welcome to the new series of Reflections by Patty blog posts designed to cover photography basics. This series of knowledge will help you become a more confident photographer. My super secret hope is that the knowledge in this series will help you to capture your own hysterical moments and memories when a photographer is not by your side. This is the introductory/home page for the series – as each installment is unveiled I will include a link on this page.
The Details:
This Series will be posted on a weekly basis (Tuesday’s Tips 🙂 and include the basics on the following:
• ISO (how bright is the setting)
• Shutter Speed (how fast do you want to take the picture)
• Aperture (what do you want to focus on)
Photography is an extremely fun and fulfilling hobby. We all want to know how to take “good” pictures. This series will help you to understand aperture, shutter speed and ISO – the three primary components to creating a technically good photo.
The rest is up to you!! Be brave!! A few years ago I taught photography in after school classes to elementary students. It was wonderful! The fabulous thing was that the students did not limit themselves but allowed their creativity to be uninhibited. They applied the basic knowledge that I provided and created some wonderful works of art! Take it off automatic and have fun.
Each series installment will include a guide. Use these to practice each component (ISO, Shutter speed, Aperture) individually. When you feel confident put them all together in manual mode.
I will also include information for Iphone users. As I personally use an Iphone I plan on showing you how apply some of these fun basics and exactly what part of the screen to tap in order to do it. 🙂
