It absolutely was going to happen but I really do not have to be happy about it. Caitlyn who (I am certain) was put on this planet to teach me something new each and everyday, has turned 7 with grace, style and verve. She is so happy and I absolutely adore her. Today her asthma was acting up so I made the decision to keep her home. Not because she was bad, but because I was desperately trying to salvage my long weekend. (They always get sick on the weekends!) I used the opportunity to drag her out for some photos. It took negotiating and cajoling but she eventually gave in – not without concessions as you will see in the photos. 😉
Each year I take photos of the girls and update my gallery on the wall. It is a growing testament to who they were, are and will be and I try to capture them as best as I can. (Caitlyn’s 6’th photos) (Caitlyn’s 5th photos) And yes, I could be a little irritated about the tag along at the photo session but the photos are intended to capture who she is and I think that I have done that. (We might be going out for a retake when I have recruits to contain her Caitlynness 😉
I love you to the Moon and Back Caitlyn! I am grateful for each day that I you have been in my life, you are one awesome 7 year old!
Yes that is a rubber snake around her neck……she was pushing it and really didn’t want to do the photos. As a mom I definitely pick my battles. 😉
I love her strawberry hair, blue eyes and freckled nose but my favourites will always be the black and whites. They seem to strip away the “everything” and expose the trueness in the photo…….get what I mean? 🙂
Yes, a portrait of the rubber snake. They can be found all over our house. It is hysterical the Grandma’s used to give a yelp when they came across one – now it is an accepted thing.

LOVE this patty – we all love our children, its refreshing to see a mom who believes her child was brought to her for a reason.
Thanks Monique! Definitely both the girls are a gift to me – in return I will try to not land them in therapy too early in life. 😉
