Life with me as with everyone with kids is busy. It seems that we just finish one thing and off to the next. This time of year seems to be the worse for me. I love getting outside….released is more like it after a long winter inside. These last two weeks have been incredibly busy with fun stuff. My mother-in-law's 65th birthday (Happy Birthday Lorraine – photos to come in a separate post), a great weekend with Dave's family in NOTL (Niagara-on-the-Lake), school activities, photography, proofing, gardening etc. etc. etc.
I have been taking a lot of pictures – it has been gorgeous with the apple blossums, lilacs, wisteria aside from the allergies I wish it could be springtime all year long. I have also found a new hiking partner and we have been exploring local trails and finding many new picture locations. Lots of neat projects coming up – very exciting.
The most important of my activities has been the 5th birthday of my baby – Caitlyn. We woke her up on the 20th (her actual birthday) singing Happy Birthday with a cupcake and a candle. You should have seen the joy in her face – oh to be 5 again! I can't believe that my Caitlyn is 5 years old, it makes me hanker for another one just to start all over again and make sure that I don't miss a single moment. A friend keeps telling me that the days are long but the years are short – he is sure not kidding. I think 4 and 5 year olds are amazing and easy peasy birthday parties. And so it was on Sunday we raced back from NOTL to quickly prepare for 10 little girls ready to party.
I had prepped some before hand – making the loot bags and chocolate dipped rice krispie treats. No the treats did not turn out the way that they looked in the recipe book (a standard for me – a chef I am not) but the kids loved them.
Purple chocolate wafers melting in a pot.
The finished product – not perfect but yummy nonetheless.
Loot bags ready for the girls.
The girls arrived on a gorgeous sunny afternoon and what fun we had. How can you not when a party includes a pinata, driveway chalk drawings, and finishes up with a round of What Time is it Mrs. Wolf and Duck Duck Goose. When time permits I am looking forward to getting Caitlyn out for a photo shoot at some of these new locations.
Wacking the Pinata – poor butterfly.
Leave it up to big sister Erin to land the death blow.
Comparing blue tongues. Yes I love kids acting like kids – the more outrageous and dirty the better.
Yes there were healthy choices on the table but you will notice that little of it was touched. Hey what is a birthday party without the sugar buzz. 🙂
aahh the apple blossums – can't you smell them!
Caitlyn playing with a present. It is a color your own umbrella which
she absolutely loved. Here she was pretending to be a turtle hiding underneath it.
Sitting underneath the apple tree with the petals falling.
Happy Birthday Caitlyn – We love you!
