Canada Day was a fantastic day. The weather cooperated and we actually had a beautiful summer’s day. (yahoo!) We (me) were in our usual state of perpetual motion.
Yesterday’s Schedule
6:15 – awake, sip a coffee while quietly attempt to create an acceptable looking and strong enough platter from cardboard and tinfoil that will hold a 9 x 13 cake.
8:15 – discover that Caitlyn’s caterpillar has hatched from it’s cocoon. Beg them not to release it until I can get a photo of it. Which will happen much much later in the day.
8:30 am – run out the door to fill up with gas
9:00 – pick up Erin from a sleepover,
9:15 – grocery store (ran out of icing sugar while making cake for Church strawberry supper)
* home to quickly ice cake
* deliver cake to Caledon United Church
* return to be informed we are dropping Erin off with boat in tow. 15 minutes to pack for the boat and prepare (post sleepover more then a little drowzy )Erin for a birthday party
11: 00 – Deliver Erin to the party and Dave, Caitlyn and I to Belwood to do first boat run of the season.
* Observe with carefully controlled panic a boat engine fire at the Belwood boat launch. “Do you need an extinguisher,” I asked very calmly wishing our boat was not right beside theirs!!
* launch our boat only to discover it will not start. Realize that you can boost a boat just like a car and enjoy a few fun hours on the boat.
3:00 – Pick Erin up from her Birthday Party. The party was “the best party ever!” Survivor and mantracker. Two massive teams of kids running around through ponds, criks, and forests performing tasks. All the while a mantracker is hunting them down in camouflage with a water gun. Tell me that wasn’t some fun!!
Home at 3:30 and start home chores. Kids jump in pool. Brother, sister in law, and the MOST ADORABLE 10 month old in the world arrive (WITH FOOD – YOU ARE THE BEST VICKY!) for a swim.
5:30 – realize as I poke my head in the fridge that I am doubly grateful to Vicky because I have no real other food then what Vicky brought. My trip to the grocery store was for icing ingredients only. Didn’t think we actually had to eat today. 😉
7:00 pm Erin hits the wall and asks to go to bed. Caitlyn follows at 8:30 and I collapse in a heap.
Isn’t summer amazing?
Today – we’ll do it all over again. My favourite moment was this morning having a coffee listening to my girls write in their journals chattering about how they have already filled 3 pages.
Tonight – campfire and hopefully a glass of wine.
“lean a little closer, just a little closer and then I can get that hair!”
Caitlyn proved us wrong again. I can’t believe how many time she does that. She caught a caterpillar, fed it, gave it water etc. We were certain it would die, she was certain it would turn into a moth or butterfly. There you have it – she is right again. Anyone know what kind it is? We have released it into the wild. 🙂
