This decadent apple dip recipe arrived at our house this summer and was an instant hit. It is so simple to make the girls have adopted it into their recipe books and now make it on their own – presenting it with pride at gatherings.
Here is the recipe and it comes with a huge warning ….. you will NOT be able to stop after just one apple slice!
Caramel and Skor Apple Dip
1 package of regular or light cream cheese
Half a cup of brown sugar (recipe called for this I left it out … feeling it was sweet enough)
1 – 250 gram container of sour cream and/or Marscapone Cheese
Prepared caramel sauce
4 or 5 Skor bars (completely to taste – how many bits do you want on your apple slice 😉
6 to 8 medium or large apples of any variety (I prefer Granny Smith apples)
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
Bring cream cheese to room temperature and add to a mixing bowl or food processor with the brown sugar. Blend until completely mixed thoroughly and consistency is smooth. Blend in sour cream. This gives it a nice smooth consistency. This is completely to taste. I also added Marscapone Cheese. Just a bit to cut the intense cream cheese taste and give it a smooth taste and texture. This was completely add a bit, then add a bit more so I can’t even give you quanitities – sorry. But I can say that the texture and taste was perfect!!
-
Spread mixture onto a plate and drizzle with caramel sauce.
-
Chop the Skor bars into small bits and sprinkle over the dip.
-
(Cover with plastic wrap and refridgerate if not serving right away.)
-
Cut apples into slices. Drizzle the apple slices with lemon juice and toss until evenly distributed. This will keep the apples from turning an unappetizing shade of brown.
Dip, devour, and repeat!
