We have a new family member to introduce, a very cute little cavachon puppy who the girls have named Piper (pipes, half-pipe…….still fighting it out 😉 Houlahan Horton.  And yes to those who know us – she is everything we said that we would never get.  The pet rules were always laid out firmly:
1. Mom (me 😉 “does not really like dogs therefore we will never get a dog.”
2. Â “If we did get it dog it would have to be hypoallergenic.”
3.  Dave  “the dog must be a normal sized dog meaning it has to be at least bigger then a cat.”
All of these rules put in place in the hopes that we would continue our life of leisure. Â But as you know if you have brought a pet to a photo shoot when my kids were around my kids LOVE animals. Â Our pet cemetery is the burial ground for the family hamsters and guinea pigs. Â We currently have two well loved guinea pigs who rule the basement. Â Things took a turn a couple of weeks ago when Caitlyn, who had come to terms with the fact she would never have a fluffy pet, started pushing for a snake or a tarantula. Â It was an interesting conversation.
“Mom, I would really like to get a pet snake”.
“What?!?”
“Well, what I would really prefer is a tarantula but I think that I should start with a snake”
………..I was concerned …… seeing a future filled with reptiles and mice.  Nothing against snakes but my list of snake pet sitters is pretty short. 🙂
Then our neighbour adopted a new puppy……..who had a sister…….who was the cutest little thing…..and seemed relatively speaking – easy.
The kids mounted a huge campaign that involved a clean house and folded laundry to demonstrate their ability to shoulder more responsibility.
Then I met the puppy.
…….and Dave knew when to cave…… 🙂
Introducing Piper (pipes, half-pipe 😉
—–currently 5 lbs of fluffy goodness and will grow to be 15-20 lbs (bigger then a kleenex box and a cat so one of the rules still stands – sort of 🙂

She’s beautiful! Congrats .. We too said we’d never own a barkng cat …. then we met Izabelle … game over and she now runs the roost …. Enjoy!!
Ahhhhh she’s darling.
Sucker!
Said with the utmost respect, but also with an enormous amount of “experience”!
Cleaning house and folding laundry will last about 2 weeks IF you are lucky.
Did you discuss who was going to be the official pooper scooper?
Who was going to be the 2am and 4am pee runners?
And the list goes on and on and on!
LOL
Have fun with Piper she is cute. I see a Dexter, Casey, Piper play date in the future.
It all happened so quickly we didn’t have much time to think about it at all the details. But she is little that means only little poops right? 😉
Yup just little poops lol
Our puppies bring so much joy into our lives, you will love having Piper in yours.
It will be a hilarious journey watching her grow and seeing her personality take shape, hopefully she’s not as cheeky as Dexter is, but then too, he is a hoot, having a dog that literally talks back provides hours of entertainment for all of us. Have fun!
Look forward to meeting her one day.
