Father's Day was a Girl Power day in Reflections by Patty land. Dave flew to Brazil on Saturday and we celebrated Father's day with him on Friday so the real Father's Day day was filled with the usual things for a June sunny Sunday. (make sense 🙂
I cannot believe how busy June has been. School has been winding down with parties and activities all the time and the kids are beat. All they really want to do is play in the sunshine and who can blame them really. Like typical Canadians we seize the opportunity of a sunny weekend and pack it as full as we can with activities. The girls are exhausted by Sunday night and head to bed early ;). This weekend was packed like all the others – it started with pulling the kids out of school early on Friday for a few hours on the boat of tubing. Saturday morning we were up and out the door by 7:15 am to Run The Runway race at Pearson Airport. I ran the 5km, Dave and the girls did the 2km. The morning was going well until I slammed my foot into the doorway doing the dreaded 4/1 split and am certain I broke my baby toe. Not to be stopped, I taped it up, took 2 or 3 advil and headed to my race. My toe is looking mighty worse for wear at the moment: bruised, swollen and tender ….. but I did do the 5km. 🙂
Today we went strawberry picking – to my girls great joy. Wow did they ever love this. Inspecting every single strawberry to make sure they picked a perfect one. Then eating the pint as soon as we arrived home. We stopped along the roadside and picked sweet peas. I am not sure what it is about that flower but it is one of my absolute favourites and always reminds me of home and my childhood. Today they made me think of my dad. 🙂 A perfect day.
Sweet Peas and Music – makes my heart ache with childhood memories.
Happy Father's Day, Daddy.
