Dave has been away on a business trip and it has been Girl Power week in the Horton Household with each of us vying for ultimate control. Not a great situation when two of the three competitors are aged 8 and under. But I think (as I sip my wine) that I might have prevailed. As usual when Dave goes away I organize babysitters and carefully juggle my time between Caitlyn, Erin, and Me and desperately try to keep from going insane. This week came close. Not sure if it is spring craziness, allergies, or that there is a birthday coming up in 2 weeks but Caitlyn came close to being put out with the garbage this week. Between her more then normal bossiness, Erin's tears and the brutal fights I truly understand what triggers those moms you see losing it in mall parking lots on the evening news.
Today was Tuesday. Tuesday is a great day. Tuesday is the day that both girls are in school. :))))).
Tuesday is my day for me. I ignored the laundry, dishes, proofing, and paperwork to have a coffee on the deck. We had put up our bird feeders on the weekend and the birds have found them already.
They (the two children I will herein refer to as Thing 1 and Thing 2) are currently brushing their teeth, fighting over toothpaste, the sink, "you're looking at me", "stop squishing me"…..I didn't realize basic bedtime hygiene was a contact sport. :(
…..deep breath…..and so I will clench my teeth and tuck my little "Things" into bed then come downstairs to top up my glass of wine and sit outside on the front porch to enjoy the peace and quiet of the sunset.
Some neighbourhood tulips – little bursts of sunlight!
Nothing like a hike in the forest to sooth the frazzled mommy nerves. The trilliums are out in full bloom – beautiful aren't they! I love the little black bug on it's leaf.
