Happy New Year to everyone out there in Reflections by Patty Land!
After a great but extremely busy fall season I took a few weeks off to enjoy the holidays with my family. It was not my initial plan to take so much time off but the flu seemed to wreck havoc with my well-planned schedule. When all was well again – we enjoyed days skating, skiing, visiting with friends and family and massive Wii bowling competitions that have been known to result in injury. Speaking of injuries – Dave fell while skating and landing in emergency for an afternoon. No there are no photos posted, yes I did take them ;)
I am excited for 2011. The last 6 months were tough. It seemed that I was attending a funeral or visiting someone in the hospital every couple of weeks. Definitely a pattern that I hope will change for the better in 2011. It did make me very aware that we do not have any family photos of our own. Yes, I take them for everyone else but haven't had a good one done of us in years. So that is goal number one for 2011 – capture all four of us in a photo. No, we don't need to all be smiling, but to have all of us in the same photo at the same time would be nice. 🙂 (wanna take bets that I will be running around on December 1 desperately trying to get a photo done 😉
Instead of posting photos from my recent sessions I have decided to start the year off with some of my favourite snaps from the holidays (and yes some of them are just snap shots – usually after a glass of wine or two :)) it was the holidays afterall!
To all my photocamp kids – remember what I said about a busy background detracting from the subjects – yikes – perfect example here. I turned it black and white so that you could actually see the kids on the couch. The couch, a frightening throwback to the days when more pattern was better. 😉
My new little nephew – completely unalarmed by the chaos raised by his cousins.
Yep – same couch this time with an extra little face on it.:) Note the heart now growing out of Derek's head – yet another oops in photography land.
Skating with Friends.
Yes, I did get photos of the creation of the Gingerbread house and train, but thought I would feature its destruction this time. We actually do not like to eat gingerbread. The candies were picked off but not quickly enough. I gave Caitlyn the job of breaking them into smaller bite size pieces.
Yes she used a meat tenderizer and Yes there was a HUGE mess. But it was so much fun to watch. 🙂
Caitlyn's ornament made at school. It came home wrapped and was carefully hidden underneath the tree. She was so excited for us to open it Christmas Day.
Erin – in grade 5 now, does not come home from school with those gorgeous handmade ornaments that I find so precious. Tanya at Pottery Parties in the Hills makes the world right for me, as each year the girls make an ornament with her. This year Erin's had "the Christmas Seal", not too familiar with that story but it was a recurring theme in all of the holiday doodling and I will treasure it as Erin's 2010 Ornament.
