Mini’s for Memories – A Photo Session Event Tribute to Mars McGuiness in Support of the Dufferin Alzheimer Society
I was tremendously saddened a few years ago during the height of Covid to learn of the passing of a lovely client – Mars McGuiness. He was a true gentleman, absolutely hysterical, lover of all things four-legged and I came to cherish our interactions. Charisma with a capital C is the best way to describe him. Hazel McGuiness (The Hazel Tree) is a counsellor, author and keynote speaker (and a friend) who mentors clients to achieve a life balanced with integrity, happiness, and success. Seeing Mars and Hazel manage together all phases of the disease from diagnosis to the eventual passing left me with a soft spot for Alzheimer and Dementia. I have been planning on doing this event since Mars’ passing and I am so very grateful to finally be able to offer it!
In the planning of this event I am learning about the disease and hearing more and more of my clients’ stories. Alzheimer’s and dementia affects more than half a million Canadians, and one in five Canadians have experience caring for someone living with dementia (Source: Alzheimer’s Society of Dufferin County)
I truly adore my clients and feel grateful and honoured to capture these memories. I like to think of my photographs as time capsules that capture family moments and share a story, showcasing the relationships between people, the love and the caring. Alzheimer’s and dementia diseases take away the stories. I am honoured to be able to offer these photography sessions and I hope that they will preserve the memories, create new ones, as well as raise awareness and funds to support the Local Dufferin Alzheimer’s Society.

On June 9, 10 and 11th (2023), Reflections by Patty is hosting a family photo mini session event. Proceeds from the event will directly affect those with the disease in Dufferin County.
The Details:
- 20 minute family photo session
- All images in digital format. (up to 40 images)
- One entry ballot for the lucky draw to win one of 3 amazing prizes ( full prize details coming soon 😉
- $200 (includes hst)
For large groups or multiple families please consider booking two consecutive sessions to get the full benefit.

Event details
LOCATION: 11 Rayburn Meadows, East Garafraxa, L9W 7E7
The photo sessions will take place outdoors on an easily accessible property. Parking is available and conveniently located close to the photo set for those who may require the use of a walker or assistance. This is a RAIN or SHINE event and sessions will be moved indoors if necessary.

Don’t worry about the photo being PERFECT! The photo tells a story. The story of a family’s love, connection and devotion to one another. A hair out of place, or an accidental grass stain actually adds to the photo’s authenticity and helps to highlight the reality of living and loving. The imperfection within a photo can help to create the perfect lasting memory.
