Looking for a couple of fun ideas for the kids or adults? The Photo Amazing Race and Photo Scavenger Hunts are always hits in my camps and classes. They can easily be tailered to suit any age group. Kids can use ipods, dsi’s, or even real cameras. 🙂 I always adapt them to camera skill levels adding in changes to aperture and iso settings to get people using their cameras in MANUAL mode (yes I know the very frightening Manual mode 😉 But it works well with kids just messing around. I love their creativity and what they come up with.
Photo Amazing Race
1. Take a photo of a lamp post with blue sky behind it.
2. Take a photo of your team name – be creative
3. Create a people pyramid. Have one person take a photo.
4. Put Vaseline on your face and put cotton balls on to make a beard or mustache. Take a photo of each person.
5. Each group member writes a photography word in chalk on the driveway.
6. Take a group photo with everyone physically touching somehow.
7. Take an action shot skipping. Two people holding, several people skipping 1 person taking photo.
8. Open the mystery bag. Find a special place to use and take a photo with the items within. J (glow in the dark stuff 😉
9. Work as a team to assemble the puzzle. (each team member has an envelope with puzzle pieces – they work as a team to put it together)
10. Water bucket transfer. Stand in a line. Using a measuring cup transfer the water from one bucket at the front of the line to the end of the line.
11. Find some special friends along the way. (Stuffed animals hidden in yard) Take their photos on the couch in the backyard
