The last 6 weeks have been a blur. Working, looking after the kids, taking care of my mom (She had surgery 3 weeks ago and is recovering well 🙂  have taken up all of our time and then some.  You know those situations where you do not have an option so you just add more things to the pile and manage.  That has been my situation. 🙂  So I am a little behind in my proofing but beginning to catch up and a lot behind in my laundry but starting to glimpse the laundry room floor again and it is all OK. 🙂  I realized I was also behind in my blogging so thought I would start my catch up with one about my favourite subject – my kids. 😉
Last weekend the girls took part in a swim meet – local (thank goodness!) hosted by the Orangeville Otters.  Caitlyn achieved her first ever regional time with her 50m butterfly.  We should have known.  When Erin went off to regionals in January, Caitlyn started asking all kinds of questions – setting goals and pushing hard.  I kept reiterating that time wasn’t important, that this was her first year competing and that she should always make sure to have fun.  Once again, she has shown me to never underestimate the power of her determination.  So we will be sending two kids off to Sudbury to compete in regionals in June. 🙂
I am so happy that the girls have found a sport that they love.  Erin turned to swimming later then most of the kids when her knee issues meant saying no to anything with impact. (It is all Dave’s fault – of all the things to inherit she had to get his knees 😉  Caitlyn was anxious to start but we were nervous and worried about how the chlorine would mesh with her asthma.  We have found that the rhythm of the sport has worked wonders with her breathing and would highly recommend it to all asthmatics!!
So we now have two swimmers – setting goals, ticking off seconds, comparing biceps and working hard. Â Absolutely Love it!! Â Go Otters Go!!
Mother’s Day was spent catching up on some chores, opening the pool, setting up the trampoline (yes I know the safety net isn’t on it – it was mid assembly ;), stepping outside and breathing in the fresh air. 🙂  I hope that everyone had a great weekend – Spring is Finally in the Air!!
…. and the photo with the dog … as you know the girls insist.  At least they are beyond the bribing with a timbit stage. 😉
