Erin turned 10 the end of November.
Where did the time go? This year I have watched her start to mature into a responsible young woman (gulp) and she is embracing it all with a smile on her face.
I love that she will still play but often find her curled up in her room listening to music and reading. It makes me sad that the years where she will start to pull away from us and find her own way are coming. I can't believe that in the next few years we will be looking at graduation, driving, teen drama, university, summer jobs and kissing her off into adulthood. I am not ready and when I mention it to Erin I get a patronizing eye roll and a pat on the head. (super heavy sigh 🙂 But I do know that whatever the years ahead Erin is on a path to become a great, strong-willed, loving woman (going to be a tough teenager – but a great adult 😉 and we are proud of her.
Love ya lots babe!
We had an "Arts and Crafts" party for Erin's 10th. A house filled with 10 year old girls making Christmas ornaments, painting t-shirts and giggling their way through a sleepover. Lots of Fun! Erin's only request was a cupcake cake which was a huge hit.
Dave and I being the whizbang's that we are decided to put sparkler candles on the cake – BUT were unable to get them all to light at the same time. They are tough – again the kids were quite tolerant of us old folks. 🙂
