I was asked by Marg of Singing Waters Equestrian Centre to photograph her horses and kids at a show at Teen Ranch recently. What a fun experience!! Most of you know I grew up in Caledon – yes, part of those Caledon Glassford’s (and proud of it 😉 on a farm with Cattle and Pigs. I am quite comfortable walking through the fields, mucking the stalls and tossing a bale of hay or two. So this was a delight and a true feeling that I am home again. I spent a couple of hours following the kids as they prepped, competed, socialized and had a blast.
It was great. There is a true spirit of family amongst the kids. They help each other out, offer advice, share a giggle and support one another. The kids were great, the horses were gorgeous, the surroundings amazing as Teen Ranch always is but what really struck me was Marg’s relationship with the kids. She is their mentor, teacher, and friend. Listening in on the private conversations (one of those photographer privileges when you sneak up on people unnoticed 😉 I was struck over and over again how Marg continuously strove to encourage them. What a fabulous Mentor!
Singing Waters offers lessons and summer camps and I know once Erin reads this there will be no holding her back. 🙂 There are many photos here – I tried to include one of every girl.
Nope she’s not happy – not at all… 😉
Some seriously cool boots!
