It has been a long winter but we can feel it, spring is finally coming. The days are growing longer, the birds are returning, the maple sap is flowing……how inspiring. I choose one of these gorgeous sunshiney days to go for a hike on my mom's farm. This is one of my absolute favourite things to do. It brings back great memories of being a kid on the farm. I headed out with a destination in mind – the pussywillow glade near the back of the farm. I had bought some pussywillows from the store to show them to Caitlyn. She was enthralled and asked in her wonderful 4 year old way as she pet the pussywillow "do they grow up to be cats"? It reminded me of the pussywillow glade on the farm. It is an enclave with a spring that we used to drink out of with wild turkeys roaming around and the odd wolf and coyote. Located at the bottom of a massive hill that we would toboggan down narrowly missing the trees at the bottom. Great Memories!
Anyways…I headed out to see if the way was clear and that I could come back with the girls to pick their own pussywillows.
Found – the elusive pussywillow a sure sign that spring is here!
The Glassford Family farm does not have little pussywillow bushes but large trees in a swamp. It will not be easy when I go back out with the girls – we will get wet! But it will be fun. 🙂
Hmmmm, sap from the Maple Trees.
