I have been taking photos of this family for many years. I love that they are adventurous, go with the flow and are always open to try something different for their annual family photos. When they mentioned to me their girls’ love of the water I suggested doing water family photos in a river and they quickly agreed. The river was a little chilly but that did not hold anyone back. Everyone was in the water for some splashing fun and ended up soaked from head to toe by the end of the photo session. Even Dad enjoyed the photo session and I will be the first to admit that Dads generally would not choose family photo sessions as their #1 activity to do on a weekend. 😉
I know that they will look back at these photos and say “remember that time that photographer made us go into the river…..”. That’s what photos are about – the memories.
I know that many people try my photo concepts out for themselves. IF you are going to try your own water photos remember these few details:
- No light coloured clothing. Light coloured clothing can be sheer in the water and We are not taking “those” kinds of photos.
- Footwear … many riverbeds can be slippery or have critters lurking in the waters.
- Be careful!! Always be safe and wise in what your are attempting to do.
- No Trespassing!! There are many places open to the public do not trespass on other peoples property – it is ignorant!!
- Have Fun!! IT is about capturing the fun and love that your family shares when they are together.
It has been fun watching these two girls grow up and I am already dreaming up fun family photo sessions for the years to come. Brace yourself Mom and Dad – it is an adventure!!
